Is there an option to downgrade a MS 908P to a MS 908 at update time?

After the year of updates is up on a MS908P can you continue to use the MS 908P's J2534 programmer off  OE websites paid subscriptions ?
If the success of the MS908 's  J2534 programmer does not meet some one's expectations , or not used enough to justify the MS908P's update expense, can you opt to save $300 and just update it as a standard MS908?

These machines are the same.only difference is the VCI interface. If you get the regular 908 the only fifference when I bought my 908 was the VCI. The load disk was either or VCI and the programing J2534 VCI. I don't think it would matter as your interfacewould still work on  vehicles but doubt if it would work on OE websites as its designed to use Autels Servers.Ask Support if you are not sure. They would know. Regards Austin

Hmmm,  I was thinking the MS908 and Pro used the same basic VCI for doing the regular  diagnostics , bi directional, basic coding ,and adaptations,   and just used the J2534 VCI  when reflashing  new module calibrations or flashing a blank modules.
The fact that the J2534 VCI has to be used  for all the regular communication besides programming,  makes me believe that you will not  be able to downgrade MS908P to a regular MS908 (simply by opting out of the use of the j2534 tool if you have decided after the fact that the MS 908P reprogramming features are  too much of a hit or miss proposition for your taste and you rather save $300 -$400 per update by forgoing the module programming side of it ,and just update it as a Regular MS908.

Been through some of your thoughts with support when I first purchased the mini. The way it was explained to me when I questioned differences between 908 and 908P was 908P is a software upgrade also that's why the J2534 box is the regular VCI on the 908P. I think you'll have to get a hold of support to check downgrade possibility if they'll even do it. My best guess is they might let you but you'll have to purchase the standard VCI that's sold with the mini or 908 not so much that you'd be stealing programming files but like I said the 908P was a software upgrade also and who knows your 908P might not currently work with the standard VCI because of that upgrade. Bottom line I'd get an answer from support (have fun with that).

The software are the same. Only thing it's when you connect VCI J2534 the software recognize your VCI and in some brands in programming you have other options. In diagnostic you have same options if work with PRO or not.

Is much better to have VCI J2534 that the normal VCI, because if there isn't that option in Maxisys you can go to OEM website.

Example: In BMW, Mini or Rolls Royce, with only 6€ you can do diagnostic, programming and coding, see technical information in OEM website by connecting VCI PRO. Do you imagine that? That is very very good. And I already try it.

In this way you are working like an official dealer!

     Hi Pedro,

Can you make a video and post it on youtube or save it in your dropbox or something similar and share with the community? Thanks.

Yes, I could do that... the problem is when. :)

But if you need we can arranged a day and a time to that by TEAM Viewer and Skype. I could help you to that. Where are you from (if fell more comfortable, please reply me by PM)

MS908P cannot be downgraded to MS908, we haven't done that. MS908P can do ECU programming while MS908 cannot.
Btw, as they says, you need to have VCI if you want to use it as MS908. In software prespective, we cannot do the downgrade.
